Memory the Light of Time opens at the Marciana National Library (in Saint Mark’s square) is an exhibition of the Venetian Artist Federica Marangoni, a unique dialogue between sixteenth-century architecture and intangible technological light
A new and evocative event by Federica Marangoni, curated by Roberta Semeraro and Viana Conti, which traces some of the key themes of the Venetian artist “pioneer of multimedia”. Active in New York since the ‘70s and adjunct professor for 15 years at New York University, was invited in 1980 to MoMA with a performance and world premiere of the film The Box of Life.
Memory the Light of Time is a dialogue between Contemporary Art, of light and pixel, through the memory thread of creativity, with the great Sansovino’s architecture, a new oneiric creation of the artist who faces unique and almost secret path with the lightness of works that do not contaminate the classical space while being a strong and engaging presence. A creation dedicated to Venice, starting from its oldest site, the heart of its history. The themes of the Book, the Light the Word, are the traces that the Artist left behind in a long career. Federica Marangoni has always worked with media as video, neon and glass, in dialogue with each others in famous video installations and sculptures, such as the Archive of Memory created in 1996, in this exhibition revisited with a new dimension.
The exhibition Memory the Light of Time is made possible thanks to Stefano Campagnolo, Director of the Library and Assicurazioni Generali, the main sponsor, which will inaugurate the same day The Human Safety Net Foundation and its new headquarters at the Procuratie Vecchie in Saint Mark’s square facing the Marciana Library, after five years of restoration.
